Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a type of massage designed to eliminate tensions and to reinforce muscles and joints. Its invigorating and relaxing effect promotes blood and lymphatic circulation and elimination of toxins and helps the body regain its natural balance.

Massage is perhaps one of the world's oldest healing techniques: rooted in Chinese, Egyptian and Hindu civilizations, but, above all, in the Greco-Roman. Inspired by them, the Swedish doctor Per Henrik Ling (1776-1839) created a complete system of physical exercises aimed to correct deficiencies and strengthen the body known as 'Ling movement system', combining exercise, massage and sauna. To develop your technique, Ling was inspired by his knowledge of anatomy, physical education, fencing and convinced of the power of thought on the mind. And to prove the effectiveness of its findings founded in 1814 in Stockholm Royal Gymnastics Central Institute.  Although he had to spend a century that his work was recognized and techniques used, first in the United States and later in Europe. Today, most forms of Western therapeutic massage originated in Swedish massage.
